Detroit natives Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman founded ERA Industries in 1956. For 50 years, the Los Angeles-based couple played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. The Ackermans' first woven tapestry was featured on the cover of the Los Angeles Times Home Magazine in 1957.
